What Kanaka Bar is doing
Kanaka Bar declared the 32,000 ha of their lands as the T'eqt''aqtn Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area, keeping 12,000ha of old-growth forest from clear-cutting, preserving subsistence rights, controlling wildfire risks, restoring streams and damaged forest, and supporting community programming and sustainable business. How we support
First 30x30 completed a Market Opportunity Assessment on the T'eqt''aqtn IPCA, helping Kanaka Bar understand how carbon markets might be an avenue to fund long-term stewardship and restoration efforts.
What Lhooz Kuz First Nation is doing
Lhoos'kuz Dene Nation is in beginning stages of establishing an IPCA to conserve important caribou habitat and protect their forest lands from over-harvesting. LDN is also working with Timber Turn to pilot a novel wildfire mitigation and carbon storage practices known as “Wood Vaulting”.
How we support
First 30x30 is providing guidance on IPCA development and, alongside timber turn, supporting LDN to explore long term funding for their land management work, connecting to the marketplace to fund forest thinning, wood vaulting, and habitat restoration.
What is Salmon Parks Doing
The Salmon Parks Stewardship Society protects wild salmon, the waters they thrive in and the forests that support them on behalf of the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation. Watch the Salmon Parks Film here.
How we support
First 30x30 is providing carbon modeling for Salmon Parks to inform decisions on tenure purchase and acquisition to better protect the MMFN traditional territories and Salmon Parks.
We support an Indigenous movement for Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCAs) as a tool for Nation-building, economic sovereignty, and climate resilience
We support Indigenous Governments to harness carbon, biodiversity, and other Nature- based Solutions (NbS) markets as a tool to finance their Nation’s goals.
We provide your nation with clear, accurate data on carbon sequestration, biodiversity, and more; giving you tools for planning and leverage in negotiations
We ensure Nations get fair, transparent, and beneficial financing deals
We work to close key financial and technical gaps for early-stage NbS project development.
We foster high-integrity projects that create lasting value for communities and ecosystems
Whether you’re an Indigenous Government in the early visioning stage or ready to launch a project, we can help. Let’s talk about how your Nation can access funding, build partnerships, and move forward on your terms.
